To be Kind to Our Core.

It’s our key aspiration when it comes to sustainability, the values we want to embed and the actions we need to take. It’s our way of constantly reminding ourselves what we need to do to meet our targets.

Our sustainability principles

Our sustainability principles were born out of our company values and culture.

  • We respect human rights
  • We prioritise equity and inclusivity
  • We have a positive impact on our local communities
  • We are reducing out climate change impact
  • We deliver 'Kinder' products
  • We embrace circularity

“ Climate Change cannot be ignored. We want our customers to enjoy fashion, safe in the knowledge that we, as retailers, are acting more responsibly, to enable them to do the same. We are currently involved in many exciting projects to increase the use of recycled materials, to make re-sell and re-use easy for our customers and to ensure we are diverting as much as we possibly can from landfill. We are passionate about the circular economy and how we can play a vital role. Through constant innovation, circular thinking and collaboration, we will be able to deliver on our ambitious targets. ”

Helen Connolly, Chief Executive Officer

Our sustainability priorities

  • Embed ‘Kind to Our Core’ principles across our value chain and product
  • Be climate-positive by 2040
  • Have our GHG-reduction targets approved by the SBTi and roadmap aligned to TCFD methodology
  • Deliver fair wages and safe working conditions for everyone
  • Increase transparency and provide comparable data by SASB reporting
  • Recognise and address the needs of the communities we serve
  • Ensure inclusivity runs through everything

Bringing Kind to life

While the changes we’re making ‘behind the scenes’ are the most important, we also want to make sure our customers know that when they buy from New Look, they’re buying from a more responsible retailer, committed to continuous improvement.

Kind spaces

Our digital channels, including our website, mobile app, email and social communications are all unified.

Kind messaging

We communicate our message throughout our category marketing and in the way we speak to customers every day.

Kind windows

We make clear links between our ESG activity and the products that we’re showcasing.

Kind PR

We talk to the press openly and with conviction about the efforts we’re making with our ESG activity.

Kind packaging

We review all of our packaging to identify over engineering, reduce packaging and opportunities to use more sustainable materials.

Our Kind products

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding—and one of the most visible markers of our ESG progress is our ever-growing percentage of products with Kind credentials.

Our kinder denim

It's the ultimate wardrobe staple, which is why we’re making our denim more sustainable, by using less water and reducing the amount of chemicals used in the finishing process.

Finding a better way of doing denim

Traditionally, good quality, cost-effective denim takes a lot of water and chemicals to produce.

We’re taking steps to change this, as well as making all our jeans from more sustainable denim so you can feel good about more than just the perfect fit.
